Our Heritage
The Primatial See of Ireland
“I am Patrick, a sinner, most unlearned, the least of all the faithful… but I served Christ among a foreign people.”
Saint Patrick, Confessio
In AD 445, Saint Patrick founded his principal church on the hill of Ard Mhacha, establishing Armagh as the spiritual heart of Ireland. For over fifteen centuries, our Archbishops have carried the title of Primate of All Ireland, a living link between the Church of today and the mission that first brought the Gospel to this land.
That inheritance continues in every parish, school and act of service across the Archdiocese — a faith handed down, and still being lived, generation after generation.
